How it works

From the first booking to payout: the entire process runs through the platform. Renttoo Deposit-Free is our own guarantee.

  1. Everyone verified

    ID check via Stripe Identity (passport + selfie) before the first booking. So you know who's renting.

  2. Deposit-Free on every booking

    Renttoo Deposit-Free is included in every booking by default. No deposit, no extra cost for the renter and no opt-out.

  3. Report damage

    Something broken or not returned? Describe the damage, upload photos and evidence. The renter gets 5 business days to object.

  4. Fast payout

    Renttoo assesses the claim itself and pays you up to €500 per incident within 2 business days after the objection period, never more than the current value.

What does Deposit-Free cost?

Nothing extra. Renttoo Deposit-Free is Renttoo's own guarantee and runs automatically with every booking. Neither renter nor owner pays anything extra for it.

What's the maximum payout?

Renttoo pays the owner up to €500 per incident, never more than the item's Dagwaarde (current value). The renter remains liable for damage above that amount, up to the Dagwaarde plus 5% administration costs (minimum €5) and any collection costs.

How long does the process take?

After your report, the renter has 5 business days to object. Renttoo then pays the approved amount to you within 2 business days.

What happens with theft?

Theft falls under Renttoo Deposit-Free. Always file a police report and upload it together with your report. Renttoo handles the rest.

How is the Dagwaarde determined?

Renttoo looks at the item's current value, factoring in age, condition and comparable listings. Receipts and invoice copies help support the value.

What if I have my own insurer as an owner?

If your own insurer pays for the damage, you must contact them first. Renttoo Deposit-Free is secondary and only applies if your own insurer does not pay for the damage, pays insufficiently (after deduction of excess), or if you have no own insurer.
